An emotional evening to celebrate our volunteers!

The CHUS Foundation highlighted the involvement of its many volunteers by offering them an evening rich in emotions during its Gala reconnaissance, which was held this Thursday, in this volunteer action week. From year to year, more than 200 people volunteer and in various ways with the Fondation du CHUS in order to support regular operations, charitable events and the organization of fundraisers for the benefit of health.

“Thank you to the recruits for adopting our cause, thank you to the faithful for their reliability and thank you to all those who raise their hands spontaneously. Together, we can do more to maintain and develop, here in Sherbrooke, an incredible center of expertise in health and to offer people in Estrie specialized and ultra-specialized care” - Martin Clermont, Executive Director of the CHUS Foundation.

The Foundation honored those who had a particularly significant impact over the past year or for their long-standing involvement. In all, 13 awards were awarded, including the most prestigious at the top of the list:

The price Jean-Besré : Mr Alain Paquin has shown a great commitment to the Fondation du CHUS for 20 years. An outstanding ambassador, he has been involved in several charitable events since then, including the golf tournament. Committed to the cause of health and the mission of the CHUS Foundation, his contribution at the philanthropic level is also remarkable, especially during the recent major campaign.

The price Philanthropic crush : The Savoy family des Résidences Soleil is committed to the elderly clientele who frequent the Fleurimont Hospital and the Hôtel-Dieu in Sherbrooke. It supports the geriatric emergency and the Geriatric Emergency Assistance Fund.

The price Relève : Mr Félix Leclerc is exceptionally involved in various events as well as in the Relève Committee. In particular, it uses its network of contacts to find new partners and donors.

The price Loyalty : Mrs Marie-Josée Lecours has been a great volunteer for the past ten years for various Foundation events. She works with heart and professionalism and is never short of good ideas!

The price Always ready : Mr Gilles Blais is very dedicated. He was present at all Foundation events in 2023. He stands out for the multitude and variety of tasks he performs... with a smile and a good mood!

The price Determined : Mr Gérald Bergeron is a volunteer for the Grand Tirage de la Santé | Groupe Beaucage. He has faithfully maintained the ticket booth at the main entrance of the Hôtel-Dieu for 15 years!

The price Community initiative : Mr Louis Désourdy organizes a collection throughout the year in his company by donating a portion of the profits for each container rented. He donates the funds raised to research on juvenile diabetes in recognition of the good care his son is receiving.

The price Patient : Mr Michel Dubuc was diagnosed with cancer in the fall of 2022. During his treatments, he decided to commit himself to improving hemato-oncology care. He organized a benefit activity in collaboration with several golf courses in the region.

The price Ambassador — hospital environment : Dr Claudio Jeldres is constantly involved in promoting the Men's Health Fund, which aims to finance research and the improvement of care. He does not hesitate to testify to the progress made by donations to the Foundation, in particular during the annual White Shirt evening.

The price Ambassador — community : Mrs. Sylvie Trudeau has been involved in a remarkable way, for several years, to promote the cause of the Fondation du CHUS among his colleagues at BRP. A large number of them are committed to generously supporting pediatric oncology.

The price Ambassador — business community : Mr René Couture is a proud partner of the Grand Tirage de la Santé. As a grocer owner, for 10 years he has succeeded in mobilizing his employees and all IGA supermarkets in Sherbrooke to support the cause of health.

The price Precious partner : Mr Daniel Collins makes a difference in our events, supported by its audiovisual team. His professionalism and commitment to the cause contribute to our success, which is important to him.

The price Rookie of the Year : Mr Mathys Caron Put your shoulder to the wheel, with heart and enthusiasm during events, not backing down from any task! A young 20-year-old recruit who shows real commitment.

The many volunteers and guests were able to appreciate the talent of the presenter, actress and author, Marie-Pier Audet who was master of ceremonies for this 2024 Recognition Gala.
