Gentle care for children in the emergency room

News

Did you know that 14,000 children are received at the Fleurimont Hospital emergency room each year? These little cubs do not always like to undergo the good care of the staff who do their best to make a blood test pleasant!

Thanks to the $27,500 contribution from Kurling for Kids, the emergency room will be equipped with tools to distract children and adolescents in order to obtain better collaboration on their part during painful or stressful procedures.

Sensory game kit, vibrating device that reduces pain during a venipuncture and many more will be part of the gentle treatments that may be offered shortly.

“Gentle care means taking a blood test or repairing a wound for smiling and comfortable children with their reassured family. For all health professionals, this therapeutic approach reinforces our sense of accomplishment.”
-Dr. Fannie Péloquin, emergency physician and initiator of the project
