Mylène and Rose in Les Girls! Nurses and actresses for fun and a good cause!
Community initiatives
"Do you know Les Boys? Well, this year, it's Les Girls!" This is a phrase Rose Breton loves to repeat. In addition to being in her second year with the CHUS Employee Theatre Troupe, Rose sells tickets to her Hôtel-Dieu colleagues like hotcakes. "It's become a wonderful event that makes everyone smile!" adds the clinical nurse in the surgery department, who has primarily worked with geriatric patients for the past two years. It's a demanding yet profoundly human environment, she explains, where quality care and compassion make all the difference.

"My dear Rose is my colleague's daughter, and we said to each other: If you're in, I'm in!" says Mylène Gagné, a nurse at CHUS since 2001, who has been dedicated to premature babies in the neonatology department since 2007. "Those who know me know I'm not afraid to look silly, and I decided to take on a personal challenge purely for fun at first. But when we reveal the check during our performances, I'm always very proud to help raise funds for the CHUS Foundation."
Both find it important to get involved and contribute to improving care in their workplace, whether for large or small projects. "Sometimes, it's small details that greatly facilitate our daily work and improve patient and staff safety. Performing on stage allows me to have fun, challenge myself, but most importantly, to contribute to a cause that is deeply important to me," adds Rose.
A Funny Hockey Show!
Mylène and Rose will shed their scrubs nursing scrubs for three performances at Bishop's University's Centennial Theatre on November 20, 21, and 22. Mylène will don the bright pink jersey of the Girls, a good goal scorer who also has a good track record with the guys. "I'm the charmer, and I don't always make the best choices!"
Rose takes on a completely different role, playing a very flirtatious, slightly naive woman who has a big soft spot for the tournament referee. "It's a lighthearted role that makes me laugh a lot at every rehearsal!" she says.
The play, written and directed by Stéphane Baillargeon, delves into women's hockey, which is increasingly popular, but in a completely wacky way in Les Girls where rivalry sometimes gives way to female solidarity.
"It will be a wonderful evening full of humor, heart, and solidarity," concludes Rose.
