The renewed success of an extraordinary lottery

The 2024 edition of Tirage-Voyage, a presentation by the Financière des professionnels, was once again a great success with net benefits of $157,838, funds that will be used to carry out small projects throughout hospitals in Estrie.

“We really like the concept of the Tirage-voyage because it's tangible and makes people happy on all sides. In fact, that's the new slogan: “With Tirage-voyage, everyone's a winner!” On one hand, there are the lucky ones who win a prize, either as an instant prize or during the freelance draws. On the other hand, the staff in the CHUS's departments and services who see their project come to life. And of course, there are thousands of patients and their families who benefit from the acquisitions,” notes CHUS Foundation's Executive Director, Martin Clermont.

What makes the Tirage-voyage so special, and what makes it so popular, is that the ticket holders not only have the chance to win a prize, but also contribute directly and concretely to the improvement of healthcare in the CIUSSS de l'Estrie - CHUS. Benefits are shared between the foundations partnering in this activity.

At the CHUS, they help bring to reality about a hundred small projects proposed directly by staff each year. These projects, each costing less than $5,000, have a direct impact on the practice, ergonomics and quality of life of staff, patients and their families. From a portable scale for adjusting oncology patients' medication to the design of a breakroom for surgical residents, from lead aprons for pregnant technicians to armchairs that can be converted into beds for relatives, every need has been sensed, thought through and requested by someone working at Hôpital Fleurimont or Hôtel-Dieu.

As for the prizes, we're talking $100,000 worth! 37 prizes were available via a scratch-off zone directly on the ticket, with winners discovering amounts ranging from $50 to $1,000. 100 were won by draw, with one draw held each month from January to September. These prizes included 12 $2,000 travel credits (or $1,500 cash) and amounts ranging from $250 to $10,000. The Tirage-voyage 2025 lottery is already underway, and has been enhanced once again with more instant prizes, giving you more chances to win!

To have a chance of winning, people must of course buy a ticket. These go on sale every year, from October to mid-January, at a cost of $130. They can be purchased online, via the CHUS Foundation's website, or through salespeople working in the various hospitals. CIUSSSE-CHUS employees can opt to pay in full, or in 26 equal instalments of $5, taken directly from their pay.
