Lobster for the well-being of sick children and their families

Events

For its 22nd edition, the traditional Souper homards of the CHUS Foundation took place over two evenings: Saturday, May 14 for people at home, then Tuesday, May 17 for those in restaurants. The 450 or so people who participated in one or other of the dinners allowed the Foundation to raise no less than $40,507.

Each year, the funds raised by this activity are donated to the pediatric department of Hôpital Fleurimont. Thus, over the years, the event has made it possible to acquire multiple equipment dedicated entirely to the care of children hospitalized in the CHUS pediatric unit as well as to finance projects improving the comfort and quality of life of small patients.

This new edition of the Souper homards will allow the development of the pediatric outpatient clinic in Fleurimont in order to create a healing, soothing and reassuring environment for children and their families.

“Having access to quiet and peaceful places allows patients to be better prepared to receive care, it reduces stress which, as we know, accentuates discomfort or even pain. The impact of having a pediatric patient who is in a better state of mind for his consultation and treatment goes well beyond the child himself: it also relieves the parent who must be present, reassure and soothe his little one in a context where he too experiences a lot of emotions”,

underlined Martin Clermont, the executive director of the CHUS Foundation.

These dinners, presented by leprohon, offered, thanks to the collaboration of the resto-bar Le Dauphin and Festin royal, two options to their guests: come and eat unlimited lobster in the restaurant or receive a lunch box at home.

In 2020, following the lockdown in force due to the pandemic, the option of a meal to be consumed in the comfort of one's home was very successful and is still in high demand despite the relaxation of health rules.

These cuts made it possible, to the delight of many, to offer the possibility of meeting and eating in groups at the restaurant, so the evening at the resto-bar Le Dauphin could also be held this year.

So it was the first hybrid edition that took place this year.
