Throughout the year 2025-2026, donors showed incredible generosity in allowing the CHUS Foundation to reach a historic amount in revenues totaling $22.7M. The results of the previous fiscal year, ending on March 31st, were revealed during the annual general assembly (AGA) held yesterday evening.

Another exception amount is the total of $12,261,726 given to the cause of healthcare. It is the largest annual contribution the CHUS Foundation has seen since its creation. In a context where needs are constantly evolving, the CHUS Foundation plays a more important role now than ever in achieving projects that advance healthcare and research. Through its contributions, the Eastern Townships’ population benefits from access to specialized and ultra-specialized care of the highest quality, here in our region.

Among the most remarkable achievements over the past few months is the Enfant Soleil Pavilion and Emergency Department (PESU) that offers children, families and the entire population an environment of modern care adapted to their needs. The CHUS Foundation is proud to have contributed thanks to the commitment of the Eastern Township population and major philanthropes who, over a period of 20 years, have embraced this vision which has now become a reality. The total investment of $7M by the CHUS Foundation was completed this year with a final payment of $2.3M.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, a new gamma scalpel was acquired as well, allowing the CHUS to maintain this essential service as the only establishment in Quebec to offer this less-invasive technology for delicate brain procedures. Another critical donation was also made for the future cutting-edge operating room, for which the CHUS Foundation has committed to an amount of $7M.

Research and New Funds

Medical research support totaled $1,666,733 spread out over numerous projects including the creation of two chairs in collaboration with the Université de Sherbrooke:

the Neurological Restauration Research Chair and the Valérie Véronneau Research Chair for Fetal and Maternal Medicine.

The year 2025-2026 also marked the launch of the Pediatric Oncology Fund and the Women’s Health Fund. The first promotes care for children with cancer and offers access to the most advanced research protocol here in Sherbrooke. The second aims to improve understanding of women’s health issues, improve clinical care and encourage prevention and awareness campaigns.

''Our team is very proud of these accomplishments and is already turning our attention to the future. New major projects are in the works, among others in mental health, cardiology and oncology. Together, we are building the healthcare of tomorrow by giving caregiving teams and CHUS researchers the means to innovate, push the limits and offer the Eastern Townships’ population the highest possible quality of care here, close to home.’’ states Martin Clermont, general manager of the CHUS Foundation.
