Two New Areas of Expertise Strengthen the CHUS Foundation Board.

News

The CHUS Foundation’s Board of Directors continues to evolve with the addition of two new members. Their expertise, leadership and commitment will further strengthen a Board already driven by a desire to make a difference in the health of the Eastern Townships population.

Admitted to the Quebec Bar in 2003, Me. Marie-Claude Gaudreau has practised law throughout her career with the Therrien Couture Jolicoeur team, where she quickly found a strong fit with a corporate culture that values community involvement and contributing to the collective well-being.

Over the years, she has put her expertise and leadership to work for several causes that are close to her heart. She has served on the Board of Directors of the non-profit organization M.U.R.I.R.S. (Murales Urbaines à Revitalisation d’Immeubles et de Réconciliation Sociale), while also becoming involved with the school governing board attended by her children.

Her longstanding commitment to the Fondation VITÆ in recent years makes her a valuable addition to the CHUS Foundation’s Board of Directors. Having actively participated in the affiliation process between the two foundations, she has an in-depth understanding of the issues, opportunities and synergies arising from this union. Her informed perspective and experience will help strengthen the alignment between the missions of the two organizations for the benefit of the community.

“Philanthropy is essential to bringing meaningful projects to life that make a tangible difference in people’s lives. Foundations play an important human and complementary role within the health-care system. It is a privilege for me to join the CHUS Foundation and contribute to its mission. We sometimes tend to forget just how fortunate we are to have a university hospital in Sherbrooke that provides specialized care and leading-edge expertise,” she explains.

Drawing on her legal experience and knowledge of the philanthropic sector, Marie-Claude will make a significant contribution to the work of the Governance Committee, particularly as it reviews the organization’s bylaws and evolves its best practices.

Dr. Yannick Poulin is a respirologist and intensivist at the CHUS, where he has been practising for 18 years. Thanks to his dual specialization, he has an in-depth understanding of clinical issues, hospital realities and the needs of the care teams he works with on a daily basis.

By joining the CHUS Foundation’s Board of Directors, he hopes to put this first-hand knowledge to work in strengthening connections between the clinical community and philanthropy. One of his goals is to act as a facilitator and ambassador among medical teams, helping them better understand the opportunities offered by the Foundation to support excellence in care, education and research.

“I want to play this role with the medical teams because I am convinced that we can strengthen the connections between them and the Foundation. When we want to move things forward, we have to get involved, and that is what I intend to do. I am someone who enjoys generating ideas, thinking outside the box and exploring different possibilities. I firmly believe in the power of collaboration and the impact we can have when we work together. I am taking on this new mandate with a great deal of optimism and enthusiasm,” he says.

Deeply convinced of the essential role philanthropy plays in addressing needs that are often impossible to meet otherwise, he will also continue his involvement with the Fondation Justin-Lefebvre, whose mission includes raising public awareness about organ donation.

For him, these commitments are complementary. He hopes to leverage the relationships he has built to foster greater collaboration among foundations in the region. This vision of partnership and bringing strengths together closely aligns with that of the CHUS Foundation.

Through his medical expertise, knowledge of the health-care system and desire to build bridges among the various partners, Yannick will bring a valuable perspective to the Board of Directors, with a strong focus on innovation, collaboration and tangible impact for patients and their loved ones.
