Philanthropy in action: $7M raised thanks to the generosity of the CHUS Foundation community

News

A few days before the official opening of the Enfant Soleil and Emergency Pavilion (PESU) at Fleurimont Hospital on January 29, generous donors from the CHUS Foundation had the exclusive privilege of stepping inside. It was a visit filled with pride and emotion, allowing them to truly grasp the impact of exceptional philanthropic commitment: seven million dollars raised for this project over time, thanks to the community's efforts and major philanthropic partners.

So much of you is reflected in these new walls!

This statement truly resonated during the visit. As they toured the facilities, the donors present could tangibly see what their commitment had helped build: a modern, human-centered, and forward-looking environment, benefiting children, families, and the entire Eastern Townships population.

“This project came to fruition thanks to the mobilization of the Eastern Townships community, which dreamed with us of an environment better suited to its needs,” emphasizes Stéphane Tremblay, Executive Director of the CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS. “It’s also thanks to the sustained commitment of the CHUS Foundation and Enfant Soleil teams, essential partners in our daily lives who have supported us with patience and trust for many years. The technological advancements made possible by this new pavilion will allow us not only to improve care but also to train hundreds of future professionals in the health and social services network. This is an immense clinical gain for our patients.”

This new 34,500-square-meter building expansion is designed to provide high-quality care and education, while addressing complex emergency needs and the growing demand in maternity, neonatology, pediatrics, and child psychiatry. Since its delivery last summer, teams have trained staff, conducted simulations, set up the premises, and installed over 44,000 pieces of equipment. The project will be fully realized on February 22nd, with the transfer of patients to their new spaces.

An exceptional mobilization effort

The CHUS Foundation and its major philanthropic partners have organized numerous events and collected many donations for this ambitious project.

“We can collectively be proud of this new pavilion, which ensures the Estrie population access to high-quality care close to home,” emphasizes Martin Clermont, Executive Director of the CHUS Foundation. “I sincerely thank all the donors and partners who believed in this project and its importance. It is thanks to them that we can implement large-scale initiatives that bring significant changes for many people, and that give full meaning to our daily commitment.”
