Fonds oncologie pédiatrique
Le Fonds oncologie pédiatrique vise à assurer la pérennité des soins offerts aux enfants atteints de cancer qui sont traités à Sherbrooke.
L’objectif de ce fonds de dotation est de permettre à l’équipe soignante de répondre aux besoins grandissants en Estrie et de maintenir l’adhésion au consortium mondial Cancer Ongology’s Group (COG) qui permet d’avoir accès à une multitude de protocoles de recherche. Le but ultime est d’offrir les meilleurs soins, adaptés pour chacun des enfants, et de faire avancer la science pour le bénéfice de tous et de toutes!
Who was Brigitte Perreault?
On December 12, 2004, Dr. Brigitte Perreault, gastroenterologist at CHUS, died of stomach cancer at the age of 30.
A few weeks earlier, the CHUS Foundation had accepted a proposal from fellow doctors and professors to create a fund in line with the values espoused by this doctor.
To perpetuate her memory, an eponymous fund has been set up, dedicated to the promotion of innovation in the field of care quality and safety. Every year since 2006, the Fonds Brigitte-Perreault has invested in projects focusing on patient quality of life, particularly in terms of safety and humanization, thereby making a concrete contribution to improving the quality of care and services provided by the CIUSSS de l'Estrie - CHUS at Hôpital Fleurimont and Hôtel-Dieu de Sherbrooke.
Since then, investments have been made annually thanks to this fund, which contributes to the improvement of care and services at the CHUS, namely the Fleurimont Hospital and the Hôtel-Dieu de Sherbrooke.

Some examples of projects financed by the Brigitte-Perreault Fund
The projects financed by this fund come mainly from CHUS staff members who are in a position to see which actions will have a direct impact on the experiences of patients and their loved ones and on life in the hospital.
Radiation oncology patient journey at CIUSSS de l'Estrie - CHUS
· A fun presentation to prepare children aged 3 to 7 for their magnetic resonance imaging (MRI);
· The children's book Gwendolyne - in search of her rights
Children have rights. Did you know that? Could you name them? Mona Laflamme, an educator who has specialized in child and youth protection for over 20 years at the CIUSSS de l'Estrie - CHUS, has written the book Gwendolyne à la recherche de ses droits.

Patient experience and services:
Support for the implementation of the approach adapted to the elderly person;
Improving the patient experience for accessing information and booking appointments via the web and email;
Development of the Health Trails, an educational hiking trail on the CHUS woodlands;
Involvement of caregivers in hospitals.
