Who was Brigitte Perreault?
On December 12, 2004, Dr. Brigitte Perreault, gastroenterologist at CHUS, died of stomach cancer at the age of 30.
A few weeks earlier, the CHUS Foundation had accepted a proposal from fellow doctors and professors to create a fund in line with the values espoused by this doctor.
To perpetuate her memory, an eponymous fund has been set up, dedicated to the promotion of innovation in the field of care quality and safety. Every year since 2006, the Fonds Brigitte-Perreault has invested in projects focusing on patient quality of life, particularly in terms of safety and humanization, thereby making a concrete contribution to improving the quality of care and services provided by the CIUSSS de l'Estrie - CHUS at Hôpital Fleurimont and Hôtel-Dieu de Sherbrooke.
Since then, investments have been made annually thanks to this fund, which contributes to the improvement of care and services at the CHUS, namely the Fleurimont Hospital and the Hôtel-Dieu de Sherbrooke.

Testimonies

“When you are vulnerable, you want to remain dignified. We want to feel loved, respected, and listened to. The Brigitte-Perreault Fund creates this space where people are at the heart of life... at the heart of the healing project.”
“I think that the video on an oncology patient's journey is a great tool to support us. When we talk about the side effects, the life changes we are going to have, it's a lot of information at the same time. With the video, I can listen to the same passage 15 times again, pause and chat with my friends and family. It allowed me to learn more and to prepare my questions for my meetings with the nurse or doctor.”
