The hospital centre
CHUS
Sherbrooke’s university hospital, the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke (CHUS), was created from the 1995 merger of the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke, the Hôtel-Dieu Hospital of Sherbrooke, the Saint-Vincent-de-Paul Hospital and short-term care services at the Sherbrooke Hospital.
The CHUS is the fourth largest hospital in Quebec, and the only one to play the double role of university hospital and regional hospital. It also plays a key supra-regional role as a reference centre for ultra-specialized services, mainly for the residents of the Centre-du-Québec and Montérégie administrative regions.
